Mocs Expect Another Grind Against Wofford

If seventh ranked Chattanooga beats Wofford on Saturday, they’ll likely sew up a first round bye in the FCS playoffs.
But the Mocs are facing a Terriers team that is fighting for their playoff lives.
Last year the Mocs beat Wofford 20-17 on a field goal as time expired. UTC expects another tough one against the Terriers this weekend because of their defense.
Said head coach Russ Huesman:”They defended us really well last year. I think we had 265 yards total offense. Probably the most impressive defense that we’ve played this year. I wouldn’t even say probably, it is.”
Mocs quarterback Alejandro Bennifield is trying not to get too hung up on that Wofford defense.
Said Bennifield:”To me they’re just like any other defense we have to face. It’s all about us. If we execute, we’ll win.”
At least the Mocs will have Derrick Craine back on offense.
The team’s leading rusher has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.
Said Huesman:”I mean it’s important having him back no question about that. He’s such a good player. I think everybody realizes how good he is, and how tough he is, and what he does for this team.”
Scoring could be tough Saturday since the game will feature the SoCon’s top two defenses.
So would coach Huesman like to see a low-scoring defensive game?
Reporter:”Would you like to see kind of like the Alabama-LSU game this weekend that ends up a 10-0 defensive battle?”
Said Huesman:”As long as we are on the ten, and they’re on the nothing. I’ll take it all day. I don’t care. It can be 39-30. As long as we’re on the high end of that score, it doesn’t make any difference to me.”
Said Bennifield:” We know there will be a couple of mistakes here and there. The defense will stop us eventually, but we’ll just go out there and play and execute and have fun.”
The Mocs and Terriers kick at 2pm from Finley Stadium.
