Mocs Glad Abbey Cornelius is Back For SoCon Tournament

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The UTC women are happy they’ll have their best player available for the SoCon tournament. Forward Abbey Cornelius finally returned to action last Saturday after missing several games with a boot on her left foot. Cornelius leads Chattanooga in scoring and rebounding. Head coach Katie Burrows says just her presence on the court really helps the Mocs.

Said Burrows:”I really feel like just her sheer size and strength makes a difference in three more years of lifting weights in college. She didn’t used to look the way she does. And so just having that strength and presence inside will make it tougher for them to score inside as well.”
Reporter:”How do you feel going into the SoC

on tournament?”
Said Cornelius:”I feel good. Sitting over there on that sideline was tough, but I’m ready to get back out there.”

Chattanooga opens SoCon tournament action on Thursday in Asheville against Furman. Tipoff is at 5:45pm.
