Mocs Guard Greg Pryor Recalls His Incredible Shot Against Greensboro
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Mocs basketball fans got chills Thursday night watching Greg Pryor’s spectacular 3-point shot that made SportsCenter’s top ten plays of the night as UTC blasted Greensboro 91-68.
Said Mocs coach Matt McCall on McKenzie Arena environment: “Boy was it electric in there last night.”
Our guys were trying to send a message. It was their focus and mind set going into the game was part of the reason we were able to get a big lead there.”
Said Pryor on his now famous shot: “When I drove to the basket I got my shot blocked, and then I got the loose ball. I tried to lay the ball up, and I missed the lay-up too. I was pretty upset about that. Missing a point blank lay-up. I was just getting back on defense. It’s just natural instinct to just notice where the ball was and notice I had a chance to steal it. I tipped the ball away. I seen it was going out-of-bounds. The first thing I thought was either
I’m going to throw the ball out-of-bounds trying to save it, or I’m going to go out-of-bounds with the ball, and I can just shoot it at our basket and not throw it towards their basket. So I just shot it at the rim, and it went in.”(chuckles)
Said McCall: “He knew there was no one to throw the ball to, so he just tried to chuck it at the rim to just keep the ball in play. So it was a really, really smart play by Greg.”
Said Pryor: “When he finally took us out of the game, everybody was like, it’s probably going to make SportsCenter tonight. I was just like okay.”(chuckles)
Said McCall: “We got a lot of text messages on it. My. My family was actually more excited about it than anyone.”
Said Pryor: “The shot happened, and I’m happy, but it is what it is.”
