Mocs Hope to Get Back on Winning Track in Rail Rivalry Against ETSU

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Mocs went off the rails a bit last week losing 31-0 to Illinois.
Time to get back on that winning track with the ‘Rail Rivalry’ against ETSU.

For the ‘Rail Rivalry’

, maybe the Mocs should bench-press the rail road tie trophy to prepare for the Bucs.
Said linebacker Ty Boeck:”It’s heavy though. (chuckles) I picked it up after the game when we won. It takes about four or five people just to hold it up.”
Mocs and Bucs were the preseason picks to bear the weight of the SoCon.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”They actually have more pre-season all conference people than we do. How they didn’t get picked first, and we did. I’m not sure how the math works out on that. How coaches and media figure that out.”
Wright wishes it was simple math when it comes to stopping E-T-S-U running back Jacob Saylors. The Marion County grad leads the league in rushing.
Said Wright:”The one thing he does is he is very patient. He’s very patient at watching things open and happen and gets going. He’s hard to tackle too. We had a hard time tackling him last year in our game.”
Said Boeck:”I mean he’s quick. He’s fast. He’s everything you look for in a running back. He gets in open space, and he’s hard to stop. You’ve got to stop him before he gets going.”
Mocs-Bucs should be a dog-fight.
Seven points is the largest margin of victory in the last four meetings.
Said Wright:”I don’t know. It just seems to work out that way. They’ve all been close. You throw that word rivalry in there. Maybe that’s why they’re all close.”
Saturday kicks off seven straight conference games for UTC.
Said Boeck:”You know this is when the nitty gritty starts. Gotta take every week seriously. Even if one team is struggling, they are going to give us their best shot. Got to take every week seriously and put our best foot forward.”

Kickoff is 7:30pm Saturday in Johnson City.
