Mocs Hoping to Break Through For First SoCon Win of the Year

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Chattanooga entered this season with one of the youngest teams in the country, so some struggles were expected.
But the struggles have been greater than expected thanks in part to injuries.
We’re past the midway point of January, and UTC is still searching for their first SoCon win of the season.
The Chattanooga Mocs are the only SoCon team winless in conference play, but do they feel like they’re 0-7 in the league?
Said guard Nat Dixon:”Honestly I don’t. I don’t think we do. I feel like we know how good we can be. I know we haven’t even scratched the surface yet.”
Said forward Makinde London:”If this is what an 0-7 team feels like, I guess so. I feel like we’re in great standing to keep growing and keep competing.”
Injuries have been a big issue for the Mocs.
They went three games where they had only seven players available.
Said head coach Lamont Paris:”I think one of the things that gets understated is that we haven’t had the same roster available for eight games in-a-row ever. We’ve never done that.”
Said London:”Chemistry or what not has been hard to build on a solid foundation because we haven’t had much consistency in our lineups.”
Said Dixon:”We don’t want to use that as an excuse. At the end of the day, if there’s five people out there, we’re on pace, and we want to win the games.”
While the Mocs have endured a lack of health, they have not endured a lack of effort, which pleases their head coach.
Said Paris:”The key with these guys is playing the same way with the same intensity, the same energy, the same level of effort, playing with each other and alongside each other the same way we have been in those games. That’s the things we talk about that we don’t want to change.”
Now UTC is getting into the rematch portion of their schedule, starting with Samford tomorrow night.
Said London:”Especially right now since we are 0-7. You just want to get back after those teams. Anytime you take a loss to somebody, I feel like as a competitor, you want to get right back at them.”
