Mocs Land VMI Transfer Guard Honor Huff

(gomocs.com) CHATTANOOGA — The off-season roster building for Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball head coach Dan Earl and staff continues with another familiar transfer signing, earning a commitment from VMI guard and 2022 Southern Conference All-Freshman selection, the program announced Monday morning.

Huff will have to sit out the 2022-23 season due to Southern Conference transfer rules within league institutions. Huff will then carry two years of remaining eligibility.

“We are thrilled to announce the signing of Honor. He had a great freshman year in the SoCon and his work ethic will allow him to continue to improve. His speed, skill and shooting will be a great addition to our team,” said Earl.

“He has an infectious personality that UTC fans will enjoy.”

The Brooklyn, N.Y., native was one of four Keydets to appear in all 32 games in 2021-22 while making 18 starts in the process. Huff averaged 10.0 points and 2.3 assists in 27.6 minutes per game last season, shooting the ball at an efficient 44.0% clip from the floor including a 37.7% mark from three.

Huff produced 13 double-digit scoring games last season with four going for 20 or more. He scored a career-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting against Chattanooga back on January 22, a 78-74 UTC victory in Lexington. In VMI’s 80-75 win over the Mocs on February 19 in the Roundhouse, Huff scored a team-high 22 points which included a game-high five threes.

A product of Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, Huff averaged over 22 points per game as a senior, leading Perkiomen to a No. 25 national ranking. His father, Carlton Huff, played basketball for Long Island University in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
