Mocs LB Nakevion Leslie Earns Multiple Player of the Week Honors
(gomocs.com) University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior linebacker Nakevion Leslie was named the FCS National Player of the Week by College Sports Madness after leading the Mocs to a 21-14 win at Furman on Saturday. He is also the Southern Conference and SouthernPigskin.com SoCon Defensive Player of the Week.
Leslie tied a career high with 15 tackles against the Paladins. He helped UTC’s defense shut out Furman for three quarters. He also broke up a career-high three passes in the win.
Leslie was a preseason All-American as well as first team All-SoCon selection. SouthernPigskin.com tabbed him as the No. 8 player in the SoCon, and he currently leads the squad in tackles with 23.
This is his first career weekly defensive honor from the SoCon. He was the league’s freshman of the week in the 2013 season following a pick-6 at Appalachian State.
The Mocs enter Week 4 leading the FCS in total defense (164.3), scoring defense (4.7 ppg), passing yards allowed (102.7) and team pass efficiency defense (83.9).
Chattanooga hosts Samford on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.).
