Mocs Look to go 3-0 in SoCon Against Wofford

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Just two games into conference play, and the Chattanooga Mocs sit alone in first place in the Southern Conference.

It’s amazing what good defense and solid quarterback play can do for a football team.

Mocs coach Rusty Wright wishes he could script defensive turnovers.
His team got two defensive touchdowns in beating Samford, so what’s the secret to getting turnovers.
Said Wright:”Turnovers are caused by contact, population, and effort. That’s how turnovers are caused. Somebody has got to make contact with the person having the ball. There’s got to be a bunch of people around there doing it that way. You’ve got to be busting your tail to go get it and get it done.”
Besides good defense, another reason the Mocs have won three straight, quarterback Chase Artopoeus has over 12-hundred yards of total offense, the most ever for a UTC player in their first four career games.
Said tight end Jay Gibson:”I think it’s very exciting. I think y’all can tell too. The more he kind of plays, the more comfortable he seems to be getting in the offense and with the guys he’s around. I think Jamoi (Mayes)

is leading the conference in receiving. That speaks a lot to Chase as well.”
Said Wright:”He prepares himself well. He wants to be good, so he has to prepare himself well to go do those things. He’s consistent. He’s consistent in doing that.”
next up for Chattanooga. 0-4 Wofford. But the Mocs know it won’t be easy pickins in Spartanburg.
Said defensive back Kam Brown:”We’ve just got to go into this game just like it would be any other game that we play in the conference. For some reason everybody plays us to their hardest ability, so we have to be prepared.”
Said Wright:”This game is huge for us in terms of what the rest of our season looks like.”
