Mocs Look to Spoil Historic Night For Illinois

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Chattanooga will help Illinois make history tonight
Mocs are facing the Illini in the first ever Thursday night game at Memorial Stadium.
You know UTC would love to make it a night that Illinois would soon like to forget.

When you’re a talented player like Mocs running back Alym Ford, you’re itching for the chance to face a Big Ten opponent.
Said Ford:”It’s very exciting. I’ve been thinking about it all summer. All last year, and it’s finally here. We get to go and compete with the best.”
Even head coach Rusty Wright can’t hide his enthusiasm.
Said Wright:”I’m excited about going up there myself. Being kind a college football history kind of guy, including the history of the University of Illinois. Looking forward to that.”
hard hitting NFL legend Dick Butkus is an Illinois alum.
Mocs defense can be just as bruising as Butkus.
And they may have to be.
Illini feature running back Chase Brown, who has nearly 500 yards rushing in three games to lead the nation.
Said Wright:”We’re going to have to figure out a way to get more than one person to the ball to get that guy on the ground. First play of the year. They’re playing Wyoming. It’s a really good run. It’s a tough group.”
Said Mocs linebacker Kam Jones:”Their running back is legit. Looking forward to the opportunity. Always look forward to playing against good players.”
Illinois has more scholarship players as an FBS team, but the Mocs don’t really care.
Said Ford:”They’re much bigger. They’re well trained. They’ve got nice facilities. A lot of fans. Definitely a different atmosphere, but it’s nothing that we’re not used to. Nothing we’ve never experienced.”
Said Wright:”No doubt in my mind that they are going to be excited and ready to play. I’m not worried about that part, but can we focus to get things done. Not go be Superman, but just go do our jobs and be in the right spot and give ourselves an opportunity to play well.”
