Mocs Prepare For 5th Ever FCS Playoff Appearance Saturday Against Austin Peay

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The UTC football team is going dancing this weekend for the first time in seven years.
Mocs jump into the FCS playoffs against another tough team from the Volunteer state in Austin Peay.

Mocs are making just their fifth ever appearance in the FCS playoffs, but they’re not saddled with playoff fever.
Said offensive lineman Griffin McDowell:”We’re not happy just to be in the playoffs. We’re happy to keep showing who we are in getting the opportunity to play.”
Said edge rusher Jay Person:”Past few years, we’ve been trying to get in. Now that we are in, we are going to try to get in there and go for it.”
Quarterback Chase Artopoeus missed the Bama game last week with an upper body injury. If he still can’t go against Austin Peay, then Luke Schomburg will go under center after getting his first career start against the Tide.
Said McDowell:”As a six year senior my nerves going into the Alabama game last weekend. I couldn’t even imagine how what he felt. But not once did I see anything in him. We’re finally getting drives down the field, and he’s like I got this. Deep breathe. Let’s just focus on the play. I’m like who is this kid. Like he’s a grown man right here. He showed a lot of confidence and a lot of grit.”
As far as Austin Peay goes, they enter the playoffs on a 9 game winning streak.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”You win nine games. I don’t care where you’re at. You’re a good football team.”
Austin Peay gave Tennessee all they wanted this season before falling 30-13.
Said Wright:”Yeah they were more than competitive. That’s the thing. They played well. You know they did. They played well.”
Mocs weren’t too competitive against Alabama last week.
Then again, what a test before the playoffs.
Said Person:”We are obviously going to see good teams every week whoever we play. I don’t think nobody is on Alabama’s level in certain spots on the field. I feel like it was good playing them last week going into the playoffs.”
