Mocs Prepare to Play in Indiana’s Famous Assembly Hall
(gomocs.com) – The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team heads to one of college basketball’s most famed venues for a Saturday matinee against Big Ten’s Indiana inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Tip-off is set for Noon ET and will be nationally televised on the Big Ten Network.
GAME NOTES
CHATTANOOGA RUNS PAST TWU IN FINAL HOME GAME OF 2024
– Chattanooga (8-4) earned its eighth win in its last nine games after rolling to a dominate 99-52 victory over NAIA member and in-state foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday night in McKenzie Arena. UTC racked up 25 assists and posted a +32 (59-27) rebounding margin to help fuel the rout over the Bulldogs.
INDIANA CURRENT SEASON OVERVIEW
– Indiana (8-3, 1-1 Big Ten) will play UTC on Saturday with a full week of rest after last suffering an 85-68 road loss at Nebraska on December 13 in Big Ten action. The Hoosiers defeated Minnesota 82-67 in its Big Ten opener inside Assembly Hall back on December 9. IU is a perfect 7-0 on its home floor this season.
BRIEF SERIES HISTORY
– Indiana & UTC will meet for the fourth time in the series’ history with the last meeting coming in the 2016 NCAA Tournament First Round. The fifth-seeded Hoosiers claimed a 99-74 victory over the 12-seeded Mocs in the postseason matchup to move its all-time record against UTC to 3-0. It’s the third-ever meeting inside Assembly Hall.
THREE-POINT SHOOTING KEY TO STRETCH OF WINS
– Chattanooga put together its two best three-point shooting efforts of the season during the current three-game win streak. In last Thursday’s win at UE, UTC knocked down a season-high 12 threes before besting the total in Sunday’s win over AAMU with 14. UTC hit the 14 number again during Thursday night’s rout over TWU and has now combined for 40 made 3PT FG’s over the past three games.
HISTORIC THREE-POINTER STREAK
– The Mocs have made 5+ 3PT FG in 80-straight games, every game under Dan Earl. The such streak is the second-longest active streak (Oral Roberts, 137) in Division I and T12th longest all-time.
