Mocs QB Jacob Huesman Invited to Manning Passing Academy as a Counselor

UTC senior quarterback Jacob Huesman will serve as a counselor at the prestigious Manning Passing Academy this weekend.  Administered by the Manning Family (Archie, Peyton and Eli), the Manning Passing Academy is widely considered the premier high school camp in the nation.

Each year, roughly 40 of the top collegiate quarterbacks in the nation work as counselors at the camp at Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, La.  Last year, the list of collegiate passers included Heisman Trophy Winners Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winson, along with many others from FBS programs.

“I am very excited about this opportunity,” stated Huesman.  “We will be working as counselors, but there will still be plenty of opportunities to learn from the best.”

This won’t be Huesman’s first exposure to Peyton Manning.  Last week, the future Hall of Famer who has ties to the Chattanooga area worked out with a number of Mocs for two days at Scrappy Moore Field.

Huesman and the rest of the Mocs are working hard to prepare for a huge season opener on Sept. 5.  The Mocs are ranked as high as No. 5 in various preseason publications and they host another top-5 team in Jacksonville State.

Huesman is the two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year and already has the Mocs school record with 82 touchdowns scored.  He is tied for UTC’s record with both 52 passing TDs and 30 rushing TDs.  His 8,887 yards of total offense is also a school record.
