Mocs Quarterback Jacob Huesman Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week
Huesman turned in his 11th career game with at least 100 yards passing and rushing as Chattanooga improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in SoCon action. He completed 14-of-15 passes for 191 yards in the win and rushed 20 times for 168 yards and a touchdown.
He started the game 10-10 passing in the first half, and his 93.3 completion percentage is the sixth highest single-game mark in SoCon history. He is currently No. 9 in the FCS with a 66.3 completion percentage on the year.
Huesman became UTC’s all-time leader in passing yards on Saturday. He now has 7,342 yards, surpassing Chris Sanders’ (1999-00) school record. That number is currently No. 7 in SoCon history.
It was the 12th 100-yard rushing performance of his career, bringing Huesman just one shy of the school record held by Eldra Buckley (2005-06), James Roberts (1989-93) and Mike Smith (1978-80). With 216 points scored, he moved past Rodney Allen (1989-92) for second in school history.
This is Huesman’s 12th career SoCon Player of the Week honor. That is third all-time in league history, right behind Appalachian State’s Armanti Edwards (2006-09) with 13 and Georgia Southern’s Adrian Peterson (1998-01) with 14.
The Mocs head to Macon, Ga., to take on Mercer this weekend. UTC faces the Bears (3-5, 0-4 SoCon) at 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday, Nov. 7. The game broadcasts on ESPN3 with a link available on the football schedule page on GoMocs.com.
UTC’s final regular season home game is Nov. 14 against The Citadel at 2:00 p.m.
Mocs also moved up to number three in the latest FCS Coaches Poll.
