Mocs Ranked 8th in First FCS College Football Playoff Rankings

(GoMocs.com) The NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee released its Top 10 teams today and the Chattanooga Mocs check in at No. 8 on the list. UTC is one of two Southern Conference schools included in the first of three updates scheduled to come from the Committee over the next two weeks.

UTC is currently 8-1 overall and second in the SoCon race with a 6-1 league record. The Citadel is the other SoCon school listed. The undefeated Bulldogs are No. 6 with an 8-0 record and 6-0 league mark.

The next updated ranking will be announced as part of College Football Daily on ESPNU on Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. (ET). The final release takes place Nov. 15 at 10 p.m. (ET) on the ESPNU Championship Drive: Power Hour.

The November announcements are an effort to build excitement around the NCAA Division I Football Championship. The final bracket will be revealed on Selection Sunday, November 20 at 11 a.m. (ET) on ESPNU.

The 2016 championship field consists of 10 automatic qualifiers and 14 at-large qualifiers. The top eight teams are seeded, receive first-round byes and host second-round games providing they satisfy the hosting criteria.
The 16 other teams bid to host first-round games. First-round games take place Saturday, Nov. 26 and the tournament concludes with the National Championship game in Frisco, Texas, Saturday, January 7 at Noon (ET) on ESPN2.

UTC is off this weekend and next hosts Wofford for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.).
