Mocs Ready For SoCon Showcase Showdown With Western Carolina

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The phrase high stakes game has probably never been used before to describe a matchup between the Mocs and Western Carolina.

But on Saturday, the SoCon teams will fight for first.
UTC is 4-0 in SoCon play for the first time ever.
Western is 4-0 in league play for the first time since 1978.
Said Mocs defensive lineman Derrick Lott,"It’s like the best vs the best right now. We’re both 4-0. We’re both going to see who’s the better team come Saturday."
To beat the best, the Mocs need to practice like the best.
Said Mocs head coach Russ Huesman,"But you hope they prepare like it’s a championship game. I know Western will be, and we need to match that."
Said Lott,"I’m pretty sure it will be a lot more focused this week. Lot more hustling in practice."
Last year the Mocs shared the SoCon crown, and got left out of the playoffs.
This year, the Mocs are selfish. They want it all to themselves.
Said Mocs offensive lineman Chris Mayes,"Right now, we’re 4-0 and tied with Western Carolina. We don’t want this to come down to a tie again. This basically determines how we finish the year."
Added Lott,"This is something we really want. Coming in and continuing to have our record undefeated."
Both the Mocs and Catamounts have only two SoCon games left after Saturday, so a win Saturday is really crucial.
Said Huesman,"The winner of this one doesn’t have to root for anybody but themselves. The loser probably has to be rooting for other people to help them out."
If the Mocs were to win, imagine what the victory feast would look like for the offensive linemen.
Reporter-"What’s it like when a group of offensive linemen show up at a restaurant to eat?"
Said Mayes,"You get a lot of big eyes. Lot of people start scrambling around checking equipment. Making sure they have enough inventory to make sure we don’t put them out of business.
