Mocs Running Back Ailym Ford Has Shot at Breaking School’s All Time Rushing Record

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Mocs running back Ailym Ford has a good shot at becoming UTC’s all time leading rusher this season. Ford is less than 700 yards away from breaking the mark, held by former quarterback Jacob Huesman.
News 12’s Brian Armstrong tracks down Ford for his thoughts on tracking down the Mocs rushing title.

Said head coach Rusty Wright: “He deserves it. He has worked his tail off to get there.”
Moc’s head coach Rusty Wright says the world needs more people like Ford.
Said Wright: “You get everything out of him you can and he gives you everything he has and everybody lives life that way.

Wouldn’t be a whole lot of issues in this world. Been here a couple years.”
Ford: “Our goal is to go to the SoCon championship. I got great teammates around me. They work just as hard as me. So it’s hard not to go hard every day because the person right next to you is working just as hard as you.
I’m sure Wright wouldn’t mind more people like Ford on the football field as well. As Ford is on pace to break UTC Mocs all time rushing record of 4,051 yards.
Said Wright: “You watch him practice, you watch him play and it speaks for mean. You can’t turn the film on and go, that guy’s taking a playoff or that guy’s not giving you everything he has. And if that’s the way he is, that’s the way everybody else should strive for.”
A rushing record held by former coach and former Mocs quarterback Jacob Huesman.
Said Ford: “Coach Huesman he’s a dog man. I’m surprised I got to break his record considering that we had pretty good running backs here. So that’s a goal I’ve been working for since 2019.

Reporter:”Coach Huesman?”

Said Ford:”Yeah, he talked to me every day about it.”

Reporter:”Every day? ”

Ford:”Yes. Just about.”

Reporter:”Telling you to break it or that you’re not going to?”

Ford:”A little bit of both.”
Despite all the success for Ford, it hasn’t been easy as he tore his ACL as a freshman.
Said Ford: “I don’t have a lot of time to sulk I got people depending on me. I got goals and aspirations. I know the team needs me and my family needs me.”
