Mocs SoCon Opening Win Should Serve as a Confidence Booster
The Mocs basketball team opened Southern Conference play on Saturday with a clutch, 84-78 road win over the Citadel.Chattanooga closed out the game on an 18-6 run to seal the victory.
The Mocs improved to 12-2 on the year, which is their best record since the ’83-84 season.
Head coach Matt McCall says the way his team rallied for the win against the Bulldogs should serve as a big confidence booster.
"We didn’t handle the pressure well at all. Turned it over 17 times. Gave up 13 three’s, and still found a way to win the game. I think it was with our defense and our resilience down the stretch. Was proud of our guys. In an environment like that, on the road, first league game because every night in the league is going to be a battle. I don’t care who you are playing against."
Mocs should have a battle on Tuesday as they host Mercer at 7pm at McKenzie Arena. The Bears are 11-3 on the season.
