Mocs Tommy Hudson on a Mission to Score

  In three games, Tommy Hudson has three electrifying plays. 

A 70-yard touchdown reception against Central Michigan.

A 58-yard punt return for a touchdown against Austin Peay.

And a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown that was called back against Jax State.

So imagine what the Mocs game plan is.

Said head coach Russ Huesman,"However we’ve got to get him the football. You’ve just got to find ways to get him the ball. Different ways to get him the ball. Creative ways to get him the ball. We’re probably just getting a little smarter in getting him the ball."

   Guess who likes to hear that. Tommy Hudson.

"It feels good to know that they trust the ball in my hands, and they believe that I’m a play-maker."

   So what makes Hudson a play-maker?

Said quarterback Jacob Huesman,"That’s about all you can say about it is that ‘it’ factor. It’s instincts. He knows what to do with the ball when he gets it. He’s so smooth and savvy too along with his quickness. He can make anybody miss, and then outrun people too."

   Hudson admits he’s on a mission this year.

"I had one touchdown in my previous three seasons. So I took it upon myself to make more plays and help the offense out more. Do more than just get first downs or getting a few yards here and there and actually put points on the board."

   Maybe Hudson has some new found confidence after being named a captain.

Said Russ Huesman,"Him getting voted captain I think was a big deal even though he’s very, very quiet. I think the players kind of realize hey, this guy is a leader in how he works and how he practices."

Said Hudson,"It feels good that my teammates feel like I’m a leader of the team. Lot of them told me they feel they can talk to me about anything. I think that had a big part to do with it. But it feels good. I’ve never been a captain before."
