Mocs Utilizing Two Quarterbacks on the Field at the Same Time

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Mocs offensive coordinator Jeff Durden loves to go evil genius on defenses.
Two years ago for Chattanooga, he used two quarterbacks on the field at the same time. Now Durden is back from the lab, concocting that two quarterback formula again this season.

Alejandro Bennifield is a play-maker. But it’s hard to make plays on the bench as the back-up quaterback.
Said starting quarterback Jacob Huesman-"The guy is just a great athlete, so we really do need to utilize him and the skills he brings to the table as much as we can."
So Jeff Durden decided to utilize Bennifield as a receiver or running back on the field with starting quarterback, Jacob Huesman.
Said Durden-"It has just been a work in progress and a lot of fun. It’s going to give the defense something else to work on."
Reporter-"Would you love to see the defenses coaching box when you put two quarterbacks on the field?"
Laughs Durden-"No question. It causes nightmares. I remember the first day we did it to our defense. They kind of took a double take."
Said Bennifield-"Usually when I come in, they say there are two quarterbacks. Watch 15 or something like that."
Reporter-"Even if they pitch it to Alejandro, somebody probably has to have responsibility for you (Jacob) because you could drift out of the backfield or who knows what."
Chuckles Jacob-"Theoretically that could happen. I won’t say much more about that."
Meanwhile, head coach Russ Huesman says the Mocs have to be careful playing two quarterbacks at once.
"There’s a fine line between saying well man, Alejandro is one of your best players, give him the ball 15 or 16 times. It’s hard. All of a sudden, he starts taking some shots. We need the quarterbacks to be healthy."
For Bennifield, just getting on the field is good experience.
"It’s getting my feet wet. I get to take hits. Get tackled a little bit. See how it is. Haven’t played that much, so I’m getting used to it."
