Mom arrested for driving erratically, hitting teacher with car
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Hamilton County Schools teacher was hit by a car on Thursday in a school parking lot.
It happened at Brown Middle School at about 7:20 a.m.
A woman was dropping her child off at Brown Middle when she hit the teacher, a pedestrian, with her car.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Angela Hayes.
Hayes told the school resource deputy that she was “in a hurry to drop her child off and get to school.”
HCSO said Hayes also had a scheduled meeting with the principal to discuss her “erratic driving” two days prior.
The sheriff’s office said they arrested Hayes because she “failed to adjust the operation of her vehicle to take into account the environmental conditions at the time.”
Authorities are charging her with reckless driving and aggravated assault.
The injured teacher has not been identified. But they were taken to a local hospital for treatment of those injuries.
