Mom To Mom – Get Colorful for Easter
We’re going to take all those broken crayons you’ve got and put them to good use. We’re making Easter crayons.
If you’re like me, you probably have a ton of broken crayons all over the place. I mean, every year when my kids get out of school they get sent home with crayons and we save them, we don’t really want to throw them out. So we found a really fun and exciting way to bring those crayons back to life.
Basically what you’re going to need are those broken crayons, and if you don’t have any broken crayons you can always use whole ones. You just throw them in some water to get the paper off for a couple of minutes and then break them up yourself. And then we’ll put them in the molds, which I use silicone molds because it’s easy to get them out of and they’re fairly inexpensive, you can get it at the Dollar Tree or any craft store.
Since Easter is so close we chose to do Easter eggs and fun rainbow colors, or you can color coordinate however you like. Basically what you want to do is take these broken crayons and place them in the molds. Now, once you have it in the molds you will put it in the oven, the oven needs to be set at 225 and I usually leave them in for about 20, 25 minutes just to make sure that they’re good and melted.
Once they’re done to your liking, you want to pull it out of the oven very slowly and carefully and let that sit for about 30 minutes. Now, once it’s cold you will have your fun color themed crayons brought back to life.
Hopefully your kids will enjoy this and have a great time doing it. Look how cute these turned out. Really, you can do this for any holidays. Just find one of those molds and give them a coloring book and let them have a blast.
Now, we hope you have a wonderful time with it with your kiddos. If you have any other wonderful ideas, we’d love to hear about it. You can post them to our Facebook page, and be sure to check out our Mom To Mom page for more tips.
