Mom to Mom – May Day Baskets
Today on Mom to Mom, we are going to create mayday baskets.
If you’re looking to spread a little extra joy by the end of this weekend, we can ring in the new season by creating these May Day baskets. It’s a fun little thing to tell your neighbors that you appreciate them, or if you want, you can take ’em to your office and hang them on the doors of your coworkers. It always brings such joy to their faces, and they’re a lot of fun to make. So what you’ll need to create these May Day baskets: I have these pea pots, and they come in all different sizes, and the best thing about these is that you can just plant them in the ground, so you really don’t have a whole lot of work you have to do there. I got some extra potting soil. I went and scooped up some pretty little flowers from the local flower shop, and they’re not hard to find, fairly inexpensive.
And then I created on card stock my own little saying that says happy May Day. Or you could say whatever you want to with that. So all you need to do is take your pea pot, create the holes on the side for your ribbon, and I like to use an Exacto knife for that. So basically all you need to do is kind of cut a little hole, tie a knot on each end, and then you have your ribbon to hang on the doors. And then put a little bit of potting soil in there. Take your plants, stick it right in the pea pots, and then add a little extra potting soil. Or if you want, you can just stick the little plant in the pea pot and put some moss around it. It’s fairly inexpensive, really fun to do, and hopefully your coworkers or your neighbors will appreciate the effort.
And if you have any wonderful ideas for next May day, I would love to hear it and we’ll see you on the next Mom to Mom.
