Mom to Mom – Sponge Water Bombs

Today on Mom to Mom, we are creating fun sponge water bombs!

It is summertime, and our kids really love to play outside and get wet, right? Well, this is a fun alternative to water balloons because water balloon-cleanup is horrible afterwards and you don’t always get all the pieces.

What you’re going to need are some sponges. I think about 40 to 50 sponges are pretty good, and you can buy ’em in big packs if you want to, or just go to the Dollar Tree. You’re also going to need some scissors and some rubber bands.

What you want to do to create these sponge water bombs is you want to cut them into four pieces a sponge. Once you get all these cut up, then you’re going to take about six of the cut sponges and gather ’em together. Then you’re going to stick the rubber band right around that. You keep doing the process until you get the desired amount of sponges that you want.

Grab a big old plastic bin, fill it with some water, put all the sponges in there, send your kids outside and watch them have the best time ever. We’ve done this before and it’s one of our favorites. It will quickly become one of yours. If you have any great ideas for summer activities for the kids, please feel free to share it with us. Post it to our Facebook page, and we’ll see you on the next Mom to Mom.
