Monroe County man charged with second degree murder
MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Monroe County man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder after stabbing a man at his home.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:45 p.m., a 911 call was placed reporting a stabbing at 700 Cagle Road.
Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones says initial indicated a Brandon McJunkin stabbed a man at his residence.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located McJunkin inside a vehicle and detained him.
Deputies also found a Jeffery Dale Millsaps lying on his right side at the front of the vehicle McJunkin was found in.
It was determined Millsaps had been stabbed twice in the chest.
Deputies performed CPR on Millsaps until EMS arrived to transport him to nearby hospital.
The following day, Millsaps succumbed to his injuries.
McJunkin was originally booked into the Monroe County Jail on a Attempted Second Degree Murder charge.
With the passing of Millsaps, that charge was upgraded to Second Degree Murder.
