Monroe County sheriff warns public of paving scam

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of an ongoing scam.

Sheriff Tommy Jones warns that a “paving company” in the area has been going door-to-door, pressuring residents into a contract. He says they claim to have leftover asphalt from another job.

Jones explained that the company is offering to pave driveways and is trying to rush the residents into signing documents to authorize the work.

He says they will most likely require the homeowner to pay cash.

Additionally, the BBB reveals that this company has an ‘F’ rating, according to WRAL news.

Jones says this scam is happening in other areas as well.
