More Than 20 People Relocated as Workman Road Encampments Are Cleared

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)— City crews cleared several homeless encampments along Workman Road in Chattanooga Friday, forcing more than twenty people to relocate.

Advocates on site say many of the individuals had previously been living at the Hooker Road encampment, which the city recently shut down.

Kat Zwitter, founderhomeless tent of Atypical Place for Transformations, spoke about the impact of the relocation.

“Because of that relocation, people are scattered in the area,” Zwitter said. “They’re just desperately trying to find a place to set up their tent.”

The City of Chattanooga has not released details on where those displaced are being directed to go.
