More To The Story: Honoring a 65 year teaching vet in Rossville

Juanita Foster has a lifetime teaching certificate that has kept her on the job through her 88th birthday

ROSSVILLE, Georgia (WDEF) – An early morning gathering at Rossville Middle School. Administrators, teachers and students preparing to honor one of their own.

It’s a surprise celebration. Come on now……who doesn’t like a good surprise??!!

Let me introduce you to Juanita Foster. There’s not many like her! Principal Robert Stinson says she has no peers.

ROBERT STINSON, SCHOOL PRINCIPAL;
“I believe everything in education is an extension of parenthood. That is something she takes very seriously. She takes on every task with the care of a loving mother.”

JUANITA FOSTER, TEACHER;
“I was really excited. At first, I had some anxiety because I didn’t know what to expect. Rossville Middle has made me feel extra special.”

DAVE STALEY, NEWS 12 NOW;
“Juanita Foster is just a few hours shy of her 88th birthday. And consider: 65 of those 88 years she’s spent teaching in this school system.”

Yup, 65 years. That’s a mighty long time. In fact, Juanita Foster is one of only a handful of active teachers in Georgia to hold a lifetime teaching certificate. Does Foster FEEL like it’s been that long? Naahh………..

JUANITA FOSTER, TEACHER;
“I feel the same way I did when I first accepted a position at a small little school called Wallaceville Elementary School as a 3rd grade teacher 65 years ago.”

Juanita Foster says she stays healthy and happy due to three things: her faith, excercise and a good social life.
Words to TRULY……live by!!!
