More To The Story: The Tipping Point

Dave meets the artist curating the art displays at the Chattanooga Airport

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Local artist Carrie Pendergrass is at it again! With another edition of her art exhibits at the Chattanooga Airport.

This one is located in the ticketing area.

The exhibit is called “Tipping Point.”

What does that mean? Well, in a nutshell, it’s art that is open to your interpretation of a critical moment.

“It’s basically the idea of a visual tipping point. In many respects, where something looks like it’s about to fall over. Or maybe its something psychological, which is open to all types of interpretations.”

This is Pendergrass’s third installment of work, since the project at the airport debuted roughly one year ago.

There are 20 pieces of work on display, by 15 different local and regional artists.

Pendergrass is the one who chooses the artists and the art. She herself has two pieces of work displayed in this exhibit.

Carrie says the partnership with the airport is yielding positive results. And so far, it’s been a productive experiment.

“It gives a different venue for different types of people to see. Anybody can see it. I like the idea that it’s a free exhibit. It’s open to anybody. And if people want to give feedback, they can!”

All of the paintings and photographs are on sale. The exhibit will be on display until the end of September.
From the airport, Dave Staley, News 12.
