More to the Story with Staley: COVID Update
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The updated COVID-19 booster shot is now becoming available. Although not every outlet that usually supplies the shot has it yet.
But most experts say when you can, the best way to protect yourself against the virus is to get “the jab.”
And, for example, the COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project believes children six months and over should receive the vaccine as well.
Regena Spratling, who is a researcher and an educator, says there are many reasons to do so. Here’s one:
“The other issue for children is that when they are sick, they will miss school. Then the parents miss work. And then they miss out on other things. So, the vaccine can keep your children healthy. And keep them doing what children do,” NAPNAP President Regena Spratling said.
Spratling says there remains much hesitation with people regarding getting vaccinated, to include vaccinating your kids, with the right dose.
Spratling believes the biggest issue health professionals face remains misinformation.
“Something has been read on the internet. Or heard somewhere. And somebody has talked with someone. And that piece of information sticks in their mind. So how do we change that?” Spratling said.
Spratling says your best bet is to go to the CDC website. Or vaccine.gov. Or the Covid Vaccine Project.
As she says, despite any vaccine uncertainty for many, the virus is still a point of concern.
