More to the Story with Staley: Social Media and Local Communities
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — It doesn’t matter if you like it or not. Social media is here to stay.
New platforms are popping up all the time. To go along with the old ones of course.
Playsee started in 2021. It’s a platform that will shift the focus to your local community. As well as personal relationships.
“59 percent say they arranged personal relationships that wasn’t on a dating app. It all confirms that people want to build personal connections with other people,” said Veronic Lin with Playsee Communications.
Apps such as Playsee are in business to encourage content that is of a local nature. Servicing those who desire to learn more about what’s happening on the local front.
In many ways, Veronica Lin says social media is becoming the new local newscast.
“Obviously, we look at national news. That takes about ten minutes of your day. But what really matters is what’s going on in your community,” Lin said. “What are people talking about locally. This can be generated by local broadcasts and discussions.”
But is it a good thing that these social media apps are becoming your local news broadcast?
Lin says it’s heading that way. Pushed, of course, by the younger generation.
For those of us who are older? Hang on tight.
“It’s a great platform for local broadcasts. It’s so much more relevant. People simply want to know more,” Lin added. “This is another platform for local media to join in!”
Playsee has over 30 million users worldwide. It’s just another example of how things are expanding and changing.
