More to the Story with Staley: Tigers for Erlanger
RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) — What do you call a group of young kids that get together and raise money for a worthy cause? You call them students at Ringgold High School!
For the second year in a row, the kids are at it again! The Ringgold High School Performing Arts Program is practicing and getting ready for a two-week run of shows later this month.
They’ll perform the musical “Newsies.”
Director Jane Ellis said about the musical, “It’s a story about how every voice matters. And how young people can make a difference. It’s pertinent for our kids, as far as making a difference for the children in Chattanooga.”
Like last year, the kids are making a difference, and raising money for a good cause. Last year, they raised around $30,000 for Ukrainian relief.
This year, it’s for the Oncology Department at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.
So, who came up with this idea? The desire to help people?
The kids did.
“I’m so proud of our young people. The show will be spectacular,” Director Ellis said. “You’ll be amazed, but I’m more impressed with their heart and the fact they’re giving back to our community.”
The performances begin February 23. However, all of the money raised on February 25 will go toward Erlanger.
The performance will run about two hours in the auditorium at the high school.
Tickets are $10.
Sophomore Bryce Hart, says it’ll be great, because his teammates are great.
He said, “this is very special. Everybody has been pushed to be kind and genuine. I’m very impressed, but I’m not surprised. It’s a good group of kids.”
