Motorcycle pursuit ends in arrest of suspect already out on bond in Cherokee County
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Nc. (WDEF) — An arrest was made after Cherokee County authorities were involved in a pursuit that crossed into Tennessee.
On June 3, 2025, Tracy Mason was spotted by Cherokee County narcotics agents riding a motorcycle with a passenger near Dickey Road.
When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, Mason refused to pull over and sped off, reaching speeds over 100 mph on US 64 West.
The pursuit continued into Polk County, Tennessee, before law enforcement called off the chase for safety reasons.
Later that evening, deputies from multiple divisions within the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office worked together to track Mason down.
Mason was seen driving a different vehicle near Orton Road and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers also went to the home Mason had just left.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) stated at the residence, they located and recovered a stolen vehicle.
Mason was booked on a charge of Felony Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement.
Mason was initially denied bond due to already being out on bond for multiple other charges.
On June 4, a judge set Mason’s new bond at $2,500 secured.
At the time of his arrest, Mason was already facing serious charges, including:
- Five counts of Habitual Felon
- Two counts of Possession of Methamphetamine
- Two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Drug
- Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Drug
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
