Mt. Canaan location observes ‘Drug Take Back Day’
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Regional organizations observed ‘National Prescription Drug Take Back Day’ earlier on Saturday.
Various locations participated in the event both in Hamilton County and across the region.
These locations would dispose of unused, unwanted and expired medications– both prescription and over-the-counter.
One of the locations listed nearby in Chattanooga was Mt. Canaan.
Pastor, Dr. Ternae Jordan Sr. said, “We here at Mount Canaan have always tried to be a connection to the community. So, as we come in collaboration with the ‘Hamilton County Drug Take Back,’ we are here taking back drugs to keep them from being put back in our water systems and other things that will effect our community.”
Locations disposed of medications and offered additional services at the events.
Mt. Canaan had River City shredding where individuals could properly dispose old files or computers.
There was also a tent that allowed people to receive free COVID-19 vaccines as well.
The regional initiative also collected vape pens and other e-cigarette devices.
‘Drug Take Back Day’ is a reminder for people to consider what they are disposing of, how they can properly remove their medications, devices, and even receive special services.
