National Gas Prices Rise For 1st Time in a Month

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Gas prices broke a 37 day streak nationally this week.

Triple A reports the national average eased up a tenth of a penny after dropping 39 cents over the last month.

It stands at $2.29 a gallon.

Tennessee’s lower rate remained flat while Georgia actually saw a one cent drop last week.

"Motorists saw gas prices inch-up last week, but this trend should not continue long," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. "Prices rose because gasoline demand remains elevated at a time when supplies are reduced as refineries enter their routine maintenance season. Price declines could stall over the next month, but should continue creeping lower through the end of the year."

We are still paying $1.05 less for gas now than a year ago.

Chattanooga has had some of the cheapest gas in the state and the nation, recently.
