Neighbors honored for saving family from kitchen fire
It happened Thursday off of East Brainerd Road
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department honored the neighbors that came to the rescue of a father and daughter yesterday in East Brainerd.
The family was trapped on the second story by a kitchen fire.
Fernando Rivera and Sam Triplett helped everyone get out okay.
Rivera coaxed the daughter to jump out of a second floor windo into his arms.
Then he and Triplett pulled a trampoline over so the father could jump to safety.
Fire Chief Phil Hyman gave them Citizen Commendation Awards for their actions.
“Their compassion, ingenuity & bravery truly made a difference when every second mattered.”
In all, two adults and six children were displaced by the fire.
