New Bible themed exhibit to be featured in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — Cleveland Tennessee has a new tourist attraction on the horizon.

It is an emerging children’s museum called Trek Thru Truth.

“I think this is a major step forward for kids, it’s a legacy project, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” Executive Director DeWayne Hamby said.

Trek Thru Truth will bring 52 stories of the Bible to life through interactive exhibits.

The exhibits will be biblically based while also tied to Tennessee state standards.

“We’re wanting to be as educational as possible, while also relaying the real meaning of the exhibits is to tell the story from Genesis to Revelation. And just take them through a story of the Bible like they’ve never seen,” President Douglas Caywood said.

The hope is that field trips can be taken to the exhibit.

The museum will feature interactive exhibits as well as escape rooms to learn about Bible stories.

Caywood continued, “Really, we just want to bring all people together, because we’ve got so many children’s museums in the nation that are fun and exciting, and educational. Why can’t we do that with the Bible?”

The museum will involve works from well-known architects from the Ark Encounter and Museum of the Bible.

There are many ways to get involved– from volunteer level all the way to sponsoring a specific exhibit.

“It’s really exciting. Everyone can be involved. We’ve had people even in the past 24 hours that have contacted us, ‘What can we do?’ ‘This really hits my heart…’ ‘This is something that I want to be involved with.’ Well, that’s the good news, is everyone can be involved in some way,” Hamby said.

This year’s focused outreach event will take place in the Ocoee River Maze on September 16.

All the money raised will go to a capital campaign.
