New City Ordincance Could Change How You Advertise Your Vacation Homes.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(WDEF)- A new city ordinance could change the way Chattanooga’s residents advertise their homes as vacation rentals.
Tuesday, city council members held a public forum.
Residents who currently make extra income using short-term vacation rental programs such AirBnB were welcomed to come and explain why renting is safer than some may think.
However, some who oppose the idea, say renting is just too dangerous
“It allows for both communities to weigh in. Those communities who support it, it would probably get approved and those communities that would have concerns about starting one in the neighborhood cause there’s a notification process. They have an opportunity to voice that opposition before it’s approved by council,” said John Bridger who is an regional planning executive.
If approved, The ordinance would allow rentals in residences of up to nine bedrooms, and rentals would have to be for at least 24 hours.
