New Company brings High Tech Glamping to a city near you
Coast Trailers make cross country trek in high tech green trailer
Chattanooga, TN –
With the holiday weekend upon us, and June being celebrated since the 70’s for national camping awareness month, Sophia and I got to take a look at a new tech company that’s inventing High Tech Camping.
Brian Fuente of Coast Trailers is partnering with College Campuses nationwide and we had the opportunity to meet him at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on one of his stops. He was excited to show off his Coast Model 1 Electric Travel Trailer and we were excited to get an early look.
“This is a fully electric luxury travel trailer. What I mean by that is it is solar powered it’s Lithium powered and you can live off grid for several days at a time so you don’t have to worry about plugging into utilities,” says Fuentes. “You don’t have to worry about plugging into utilities so you’re literally powering this trailer from the Sun. You have 1,600 watts of solar on the roof and 22 KW hours of power of lithium power.”
The trailer is full of tech, but one of the neatest things to us was that most of its features – including the awning – are controlled by a smart phone app.
“The app communicates with the module inside so what’s really neat is if say you’re out to dinner and you want to conserve your energy inside when you’re wrapping up dinner, then you just go on your app and turn the AC on to 68 and when you come back you can have a comfortable living situation as you arrive,” says Fuentes.
What makes this trailer unique is that it’s made of fully composite materials that are 100% recycle materials so it’s very sustainable. It’s ultra-light weight, and insulated when compared to a traditional RV so you don’t have to worry about wood needing to be replaced. The batteries have an impressive 11-year warranty AND they can charge up to negative 35 degrees. On cloudy days the camper can be plugged in to a 50 amp or 30 amp receptacle and it could even work as a generator for your home in the event of a power outage. Put all this with the monocrystalline solar panels and you can live as green as possible while you enjoy the great outdoors.
