New mom accused of biting her baby, sheriff’s office says
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County deputies arrested a woman who is charged with abusing and neglecting her baby.
Deputies arrested 20-year-old Lisa Ashley on Friday, July 7.
Witnesses, including Ashley’s parents, accused her of causing the bruises on her 4-month-old baby.
A deputy said he saw the bruises on the child’s face and bottom, as well as bite marks on the knee.
The sheriff’s office said Ashley also admitted to biting her child. However, she told them she felt instant guilt about it.
She told officers she is suffering from postpartum depression, as well.
Deputies contacted Child Protective Services, and later took her into custody in Soddy-Daisy.
Authorities are charging Ashley with child abuse and neglect.
