New Notre Dame Coach Brent Hill Bringing Fast Attack to Irish

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Notre Dame hits the field this fall with a new head coach in Brent Hill.
He hopes to deliver the school’s first winning season since 20-18.
Brian Armstrong has the Irish in the 30-in-30 spotlight.

Notre Dame’s new head coach Brent Hill wants the ball snapped every 15 seconds, which means his players need to adjust to the new system.
Said Hill:”We’re getting a fill for who we are in learning the new offense and defense.”
Said receiver Landon Goeller:”I feel like I’ve picked it up pretty fast. I think we’ve all started to buy into it. I think that has really helped us.”
With only seven seniors, the team is young.
Said Hill:”O-line we are just young. That’s always a concern for a coach.”
But the group is ready for results to be different.
Said Hill:”This group has been very coachable. Hard working kids. Very eager to learn. You can tell they want a change.”
Quarterback Cooper Campbell is one of those learning the most in the new system.
Said Hill:”Took a little bit in the spring the first week. He’s a sharp kid. He has picked it up. I would say after the first week, he has picked it up very quickly. Each week he has gotten better.”
And under the new coaching philosophy, the ball is going to be spread around.
Said Hill:”We’re going to feed the ball to E.J. Carter of course, but I’m a firm believer that five different people need to touch the ball. It’s not necessarily about 50-50 run to pass or we’ve got to get the ball to this kid. Ninety percent of the time we want to balance it. It’s pretty much what the defense gives us.”
