New VW Workers May Look To Collegedale and Ooltewah For Accommodation

COLLEGEDALE, TN, (WDEF)-Expect to see more cranes, scaffolding and timber frames in the next few months if you live near exit 11 or Apison Pike.

John Brown, Land South Construction,"Its in a great location with VW coming in, should be able to house plenty of people, nice clubhouse, fire place, pool in the back"

Brown says these 200 apartments ranging between 1 and 3 beds just off Apison Pike could be a good fit for  VW workers and their families.

"Right off of Little Debbie Parkway, got place for the kids to play, you got ball fields its in a great location"

The complex is expected to be finished by next year and is less than 5 miles from Volkswagen’s Plant.

Local realtors say plans are already in place to expand the Volkswagen Drive, Apison Pike route as more and more people will be moving into the area in the coming years.

Wendy Dixon, Crye Leike Ooltewah, "We did experience growth in our sales when they came initially, we also had another big flux in growth after all the suppliers came too, really excited to hear about a different car coming maybe there will be even more vendors"

Dixon has worked in real estate for the past 7 years and says there’s a big demand  to live and stay in Collegedale and Ooltewah.

"The people here are consistently friendly, I follow up with all of my relocation buyers, everyone is so happy with the warm they are greeted with from our community"

When the SUV comes on board in 2016 the plant will have close to 5000 employees.
