New wildfire equipment for local Georgia counties

RINGGOLD Ga., (WDEF) — The Georgia Forestry Commission presented new wildfire equipment to local fire departments this morning.

These donations were funded through grants.

More than 10 counties who recovered from last year’s wildfires will receive this donation.

The new equipment includes Fire helmets, gloves, fire shirts, and more.

Both Catoosa and Whitfield County were recipients of the equipment this morning.

“The Fire Department’s really helped. When we have bigger wildfires like we had last year. It really takes the whole community to be able to control it, I mean we had people outside of this area we had them come from South Georgia, but the fire farmers were just a really big help to us,” said Program Manager Emily Hamilton.

Both Walker and Dade County Fire Departments’ will receive their new equipment on Monday.
