CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) A different kind of war movie hits theaters this weekend.
Hacksaw Ridge tells the story of Desmond Doss, a Virginia native who later moved to Lookout Mountain.
He refused to carry a weapon in World War Two, but was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroics saving fellow soldiers as a medic.
Here is the trailer.
Doss dies in 2006.
This is a story we ran at his death on the highway named for him in Walker County.
Mr. Doss’s life is just one of the stories they hope to tell in the Medal of Honor museum proposed for Coolidge Park.
