Nick Saban Still Motivated to be the Best

When you have success like Nick Saban has enjoyed at Alabama, you draw plenty of attention at SEC Media Days. But how does he do it? Bama will likely be favored to win their fourth straight SEC title this season.
Said defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick:”Just the demands he has for us. We will walk into the locker room thinking he’s going to be like oh, good game guys. But he’s in there and stands up there on that Gatorade thing and starts cursing at us and getting on us. We’re like man, we just won 56-0, and he’s telling us we can play better. I mean that’s how he does it.”
Said offensive lineman Bradley Bozeman:”Like he always says, he hates to lose. He hates losing more than he likes winning. He’s a competitor.”
Receiver Calvin Ridley says Nick Saban defines Mr. Football.
Said Ridley:”All he does. You see him at the complex all day. He’s in his office working. That’s one thing I know about Coach Saban. He’s all about football.”
What about the man himself what keeps Nick Saban going?
Reporter:”In light of all of your success and given Bob Shoops relatively early retirement, how do you stay motivated and reinvigorate yourself each season?”
Said Saban:”I have no problem ever getting excited about the challenges of the season. When I go on vacation, I play golf every day. Play a game. I mean not just go play to hit the ball. I mean it’s a game. Who, who, who is going to win here. (laughter) This is one of the best competitive venues in the world. Being able to compete in the SEC. So to go on some golf course where you lose a bunch of golf balls to get a fix on your competitive spirit. I think I’d rather stay with the SEC.”(laughter)

Said Saban:”That’s it? I was just getting warmed up.” (laughter)
