Nicky Lama announces run for Dalton City Council

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Nicky Lama has announced that he is running for a vacant seat on the Dalton City Council.

It’s the latest domino in the local political changes.

The Ward 2 seat is open because councilwoman Annalee Harlan Sams resigned last week to run for mayor.

She wants to replace David Pennington who announced he is not running for re-election.

Lama is hoping to cash in on his own family connections.

He is the grandson of local Republican stalwart Ed Painter.

Lama says “Inspired by the progress Dalton has made, I am committed to building upon our successes and ensuring a brighter future for all residents of Dalton. With a focus on economic development, community engagement, and protecting the taxpayer dollars, I am dedicated to representing Ward 2 with integrity and enthusiasm.”
