No charges yet in shootout that killed a man and critically injured a woman

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have not filed charges at this point in a shootout in a downtown neighborhood on Monday night.

One person was killed and another seriously injured.

Police were informed that two gunshot victims had arrived at the hospital just before midnight.

Investigators traced the shooting scene to a home on Cannon Avenue, right next to I-24 downtown.

They say that someone fired several rounds into the house there.

A 42 year old woman inside was hit and suffered life-threatening injuries.

A male party then came outside to fire at the original shooters.

In that exchange of fire, 22 year old Antonio Sparks was hit.

He died later at the hospital.

Police are not saying if he lived at the house or was with the other group.

In a release, they say “Due to several parties firing numerous rounds and a large crime scene, Investigators are still actively investigating the incident and trying to determine the exact actions of all those involved.”

But they say they are not charging anyone at this time.
