Nokian Tyres completes new warehouse in Dayton

RHEA COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Nokian Tyres celebrated the completion of a new finished goods warehouse in Dayton, Tennessee on Thursday.

“It is really exciting that this is kind of the last piece of the puzzle for a full phase one investment,” said David Korda, Operation Director for Nokian Tyres.

Nokian Tyres opened its Dayton factory in the fall of 2019.

“We have grown from 60 people to 500 people, and this kind of completes our operations here, and now we just go execute,” said Korta.

The new warehouse will store hundreds of thousands of tires produced inside the factory.

Korta says the warehouse will also speed up service for customers.

If we grow phase two, the warehouse is already ready to receive that phase two,” said Korta. “So, we have a lot of different options and flexibility, but being able to get direct shipments to our customers is going to make a big difference for us.”

The new warehouse took nearly five years to be completed.

Nokian Tyres said they will add more than 15 new jobs to staff the warehouse.

Rhea County Mayor Jim Vincent believes this project will help economic growth in Rhea County.

It is a big piece of growth. It has numerous employees, they are opening up with 12 to 15 new employees, and that will grow monthly as they get through their training program,” said Vincent. “You have all the trucking and all that to go with it.”
