Nokian Tyres donates to local trail development for Earth Day

RHEA COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Nokian Tyres donated funds to support the Cumberland Trail in Rhea County for Earth Day.

The Cumberland Trails Conference (CTC) is developing a trail near Nokian’s Dayton factory. These funds will help develop the Laurel-Snow portion of the trial.

With this money, the CTC will purchase trail-building supplies. The final product will be a 300 mile trail, from Signal Mountain to Cumberland Gap.

“We are honored to support construction of the Cumberland Trail in our backyard,” said Nokian Tyres Operations Director David Korda. “The trail showcases East Tennessee’s beauty and will give Rhea County residents a great place to hike and explore.”

The company started the “Road to Sustainable Success” initiative when they opened their Dayton plant.

Through this program, Nokian Tyres supports local education, provides scholarships, and advocates for regional sustainability.
