Nonprofit Rescue 82 making 7th mission trip to Ukraine
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Rescue 82 is preparing to embark on their seventh relief mission to Ukraine.
Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department are leading this relief mission. Those officers are Captain Daniel Francis, Sergeant Lee Salyers and Sergeant Jeremiah Cook. U.S. Air Force veteran and Kimball Baptist Church pastor Bruce Howland is also attending the mission trip. McCallie Alumnus Evan Monsees will be going as well.
This upcoming relief mission will happen in March 2024.
Rescue 82 is a Chattanooga-based non-profit which aims to provide food and supplies to those who are affected by the ongoing war. They will be working alongside pastors and chaplains in Ukraine.
The organization says all mission trip members are using their vacation time to make this trip.
“After two years of full-scale war, the suffering of the Ukrainian people continues. We hope to help as many people as possible on our upcoming mission,” said Jeremiah Cook, founder of Rescue 82.
Rescue 82 has made several trips to Ukraine during the war. One of those trips took place 34 days after Russia invaded Ukraine.
Various first responders, military veterans and others make up the non-profit Rescue 82.
“We’re trying to raise $3500 toward the purchase of first aid kits to deliver inside Ukraine,” Rescue 82 said in a YouTube video.
