DEKALB COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) —  A North Carolina man is facing multiple child solicitation charges after he had been engaging in explicit online communication with a minor.

A concerned guardian reported to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) that the child had been communicating with an unknown male on a social media app called Reality.

DCSO determined that the suspect had been using deceptive tactics to conceal his true identity while engaging in inappropriate conversations with the minor.

The suspect also sent explicit images and requested the child to send photos in return.

After weeks of investigating, officials identified the suspect as 45-year-old Jason Wayne Everette of North Carolina.

Authorities obtained four warrants for Everette’s arrest on charges of transmitting obscene material to a child and electronic solicitation of a child.

“We must keep our children safe while using the internet and technology. Please have conversations with your children about chatting and meeting strangers on cellphones or computers and check their devices for unusual activity. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to seek out these perpetrators regardless of where they reside in the country.”
